Bill Evans LPs

Merely saying that Bill Evans ranks as one of jazz's premier icons doesn't begin to do the pianist justice.

Profoundly influential, his signature rhythmic melodic lines and classically inspired impressionistic touches redefined how the instrument was played and perceived. Yet the only thing that convincingly describes his legacy and importance is his music. With Evans, words aren't enough. The proof lies in his incredible recordings, long celebrated for their sonic fidelity and unsurpassed passion. Audiophiles have prized vinyl pressings of Evans standards such as Moonbeams for decades, quickly snapping up specialized pressings that demand hundreds of dollars on the aftermarket.

Now, Evans' very finest albums: New Jazz Conceptions, Everybody Digs Bill Evans, Portrait In Jazz, Explorations, Sunday At The Village Vanguard, Waltz For Debby, Moonbeams, Interplay, How My Heart Sings!, and At Shelly's Manne-Hole, are being made available in an extremely limited, absolutely definitive 180g 45RPM 22LP box set from Analogue Productions. In addition, Cannonball Adderley's Know What I Mean? is also included, given Evans' magnificent role on the album. The one of a kind set features a who's who of fellow jazz giants that includes Sam Jones, Philly Joe Jones, Freddie Hubbard, Percy Heath, Paul Motian, Jim Hall, and Scott LaFaro among others.
Cut from the original tapes by Kevin Gray and pressed at Pallas in Germany, each album also features facsimiles of each original jacket along with an 18-page booklet detailing Evans' career and the Riverside era. Limited to just 1500 numbered copies!

All of Analogue Productions' prior 45RPM pressings of Evans' albums garnered international acclaim and stand as the label's all-time best sellers. These will sell out quickly so secure your copy of this exquisite collectible and enjoy timeless jazz in unprecedented fidelity for the rest of your lifetime.

Bill Evans:Everybody Digs Bill Evans XCRD

The legend of Bill Evans really begins with this album. The pianist had just spent most of 1958 with one of the major units in jazz history: the Miles Davis sextet. His fellow musicians already knew his worth (the album title was almost literally accurate) and with this record, the jazz public began to follow their lead. Aided by Philly Joe Jones and Sam Jones, Evans set down some of his most swinging trio sides in addition to the remarkable and haunting solo improvisation called Peace Piece.

XRCD allows the listener to hear what the producer and artist intended... the sound of the original master tape!

You don't need a "golden ear" to hear the improvement in an xrcd. The improvement in sound quality of xrcd over a conventional CD is not subtle. Obvious gains in clarity, transparency, dynamics and warmth of XRCD can be heard by all. XRCD allows the listener to hear what the producer and artist intended to hear the sound of the original master tape. And, unlike some other recent attempts to improve CD sound quality, no additional equipment or add on converter is necessary to fully realize the sonic benefits of the xrcd process.

All XRCDs will play on ANY CD Player!

XRCD is the optimization of CD mastering and manufacturing. The care and time put into the creation of an XRCD far exceeds that of any other compact disc. Sophisticated analysis by both test instrument and ear are used to evaluate every step of signal transfer, from the inception of the mastering process through the final manufacture of the disc. The degree of specialization of the process is such that only one production line at one manufacturing facility in YOKOHAMA, Japan is of sufficient quality to produce the XRCD.

Holst:The Planets LP
Earth was not created in a day. And the same applies to Gustav Holst's interplanetary symphony which took him about three years to write. The composer employs a massive orchestra and rich orchestral colouring to portray each planet in his musical psychogram.

Mars, the Bringer of War, rages with mechanical brutality, while Venus brings peace and an acceptance of life. Mercury, the Winged Messenger, darts here and there with quicksilver speed, while powerful and sovereign Jupiter brings jollity and reassurance. Saturn plods by with heavy tread, while Uranus with its contrasting changes in tempo remains enigmatic and extrovert. And because Pluto, the most distant planet had not yet been discovered, it is Neptune, the great unknown, which is lost in time and space in an endless ostinato of female voices.

Holst:The Planets XCRD

TAS Recommended! Rated a 'Best Audiophile Label Recording' in the November 2009 issue of The Absolute Sound!

Mastered by Alan Yoshida

Written by Gustav Holst over a 3-year period in 1914, “The Planets” is a true masterpiece of Classical Music that has been continuously imitated over the years by many well-known film score composers. From the thunderously charged emotion of “Mars, the Bringer of Wars” to the faint and distant passages of “Neptune, the Mystic”, this release demonstrates the high quality of recordings made by the Decca Record Label in the early 1970’s as well as the highly refined sound of the XRCD24 process. Listen and Compare.
