THE BLACK STUFF IS STILL STRUTTIN'

Bob Marley, still bringing it all to us after all this time. We celebrate his life's accomplishments on today(6th Feb)which would have been a celebration of his birthday.

Exodus features a laid-back, stoned atmosphere that’s simultaneously funky and political.Bassist Aston Barrett plays a liquid-y bass that’s never overly technical, but it provides a dark, flat feel to the album. This, with brother Carlton Barrett’s superb drumming notwithstanding, leaves plenty of room for Marley and guitarist Junior Marvin to wander freely.

It’s undoubtedly a classic album, and Marley’s legacy still lives on, whether its mentions of his name in movies such as Knocked Up or I Am Legend, or if it’s Time Magazine naming

Exodus the best album of the twentieth century.Exodus has been recognized by music critics as one of the greatest albums of all time.

With a dusky soul voice and a knack for literate, thoughtful lyrics, singer/songwriter Amos Lee is a throwback to a more organic-sounding pop time period.
Calling to mind a mix of Bill Withers, Arthur Lee, and James Taylor, Lee croons through his debut with a singular sense of his time and place that adds weight to his already heartfelt songs.
Much like Taylor's Sweet Baby James and Withers' Still Bill, Amos Lee is an album about an artist's life and loves in a world that often seems at odds with his desires.
For all intents and purposes with Lee, Blue Note has found the male Norah Jones.
Lee has a phenomenal voice matched by a journeyman's sense of songcraft that is just too good to go unnoticed.

One dozen of Leonard Cohen's most famous songs from those recent world tour performances - at auditorium halls, festivals, arenas, and stadiums from Tel Aviv to London, from across Europe to the California desert and his native Canada - are now collected on SONGS FROM THE ROAD.

While 12 songs might not seem like much of a representation of a career that has spanned nearly five decades, that's not the point of this release. Instead it was an attempt to capture some of what the recording's producer, Ed Sanders, calls the tour's special moments

The extra weight of the vinyl gives the sound a crystal-clear quality and clarity which is a necessary ingredient for enjoying a live album.

The material covers all parts of Cohen's career.

Songs From The Road presents Leonard Cohen live which is the way he should be heard and experienced. It is a double treat to have this release issued on vinyl. A must for any fan of this old song master.
